Jenny McCarthy is bringing sexy back to late-night television with the launch of her new VH1 series “The Jenny McCarthy Show” on Friday, Feb. 8.

“One thing that I did say when I sat down with Jeff Olde [at VH1] is, ‘What is missing in late night is a bit of sexiness — not that Jay Leno isn’t sexy — like ‘Playboy After Dark.’”

So McCarthy’s goal is to “have like a party with great conversations — to incorporate sexiness with great conversations,” she told reporters at a TCA session for the show in Pasadena on Saturday.

While the show has yet to start filming, McCarthy does have a few pieces in the can, including one that is her favorite, called “Drunk, dumb, or both?” She says it is like Leno’s “Jay Walking” but more “what’s the color of a red boat” — and people answering “blue.”

There will also be a VIP section where McCarthy plans to seat her sister, whichever of her girlfriends are in town, and hot men – Bradley Cooper among them.

She says, “Cheering on the girls and making fun of the guys,” is part of her strategy.

After 15 years with development deals that never went on to become successful TV series, McCarthy says she has learned lot — especially with the last 5 years being in a holding deal with Oprah Winfrey. One of the most important things she feels she has learned is that she is not a daytime talk show host.

So, she is hoping to blossom in late night. “If you are not your authentic self, you are not going to rock. Hopefully, this will be better than being half-assed in daytime,” says McCarthy, who hopes that the audience will be there for her on Friday nights at 10:30.

“The Jenny McCarthy Show” premieres Friday, February 8 at 10:30 p.m. on VH1.
