In a move to curb gun violence, a roster of Hollywood heavyweights have teamed up in a new video designed to start a grassroots effort to curb gun violence.
Released the same day the NRA blamed Hollywood for the shooting, the 90-second public service announcement featured a lineup of A-list celebrities calling for reforms in gun laws.
Among the actors participating in the video are the likes of Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Will Farrell, Jennifer Aniston, Ellen DeGeneres, Jon Hamm, Conan O’Brien and Chris Rock, as well as many more.
In the black-and-white video, the celebrities ask viewers to “demand a plan,” asking “How many more colleges? How many more classrooms? How many more movie theaters? How many more houses of faith?”
The PSA is the product of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns campaign, which was launched in July following the Aurora, Colo., movie theater shootings. The campaign looks to pass gun laws that not only require background checks for every gun sold in America, but also ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, as well as make gun trafficking a federal crime.
