With Howard Stern the only personality confirmed to return to the judge’s table on the next season of “America’s Got Talent,” NBC has at least one slot to fill for the summer.

If Stern has his way, however, one of the chairs next to him be taken by none other than Rosie O’Donnell, according to The Huffington Post. The article states that Stern has made it clear to producers that he would “love” to be sitting to O’Donnell.

“Rosie and Howard have had a tough past but now they are great friends,” a friend of Stern’s told the site. “He thinks she is a great talent and will bring a new energy to that show.”

Indeed, O’Donnell not only has a gift of gab based on her days as a talk show host but is also an actress, a comedienne and has been an advocate for Broadway and the arts, often hosting productions on her show. In addition, she is based in New York, where the show is taped, and may be looking for work since her last show was cancelled by OWN. So it could be a great match.

Howard originally joined the series last summer, replacing Piers Morgan. Fellow judge Sharon Osbourne later announced that she too, would be leaving the show. Meanwhile, fellow judge Howie Mandel recently said he would love to return but has yet to be asked back. Other names that have been tied to the ‘AGT’ vacancy include Carmen Electra and LeAnn Rimes.

“NBC wants to keep Howard happy, and the chemistry between the judges is what makes the show a huge success,” a network insider said in the report. “Just think what Rosie did when she joined ‘The View’ — suddenly the show became must-see TV again. At the moment, a list of names exists, but if it were solely up to Howard, Rosie would get the job.”

Is Rosie up for the gig? She told The Huffington Post that if producers did offer her the job, she would “definitely consider it.”
