Once again Simon Cowell will be hunting for a new face for “The X-Factor.”
This time around, it’s L.A. Reid’s judges’ chair that needs to be filled after Reid announced Thursday that he is leaving the show after two seasons.
“I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell. He is the very best and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from him,” Reid said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I’m honored to have sat on the panel with such incredible talent.”
The chair of Epic Records was the only on-air talent to return for the sophomore season of the FOX show. The first season saw the loss of judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as host Steve Jones.
“He’s going back to the music business full time, it’s his decision,” a source told Deadline.
Reid will, however, play out the season and will be with fellow judges Cowell, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato for the finals of the singing competition next week.
