“Fashion Star” is on deck to return to NBC for season two. The second season will see a new host, a new store as well as a new night for the show.
The reality competition, which features designers competing for a multimillion-dollar grand prize and launching a line at one of three national retailers, will move from its Tuesday home to the Friday night time period starting March 8, at 8 p.m.
Returning to the fold will be celebrity mentors Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and designer John Varvatos. However, Louise Roe will now take over hosting duties, replacing Elle Macpherson. Another change will see Express join the lineup of retail buyers bidding on the designer’s looks with returning stories Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue.
“We are incredibly impressed with the contestants in this season’s ‘Fashion Star’ as well as the vision and creativity they have expressed with their collections,” said Paul Telegdy, president, alternative and late-night programming of NBC Entertainment. “These designers are already on their way to great success in their careers and we look forward to introducing the audience to each of them and their designs. In addition, the retailers have really stepped up their game this time around and the audience will be amazed at the bids being made on a weekly basis.”
The first season of the show averaged 4.8 million viewers for NBC.
