It’s been a long time coming, “NCIS” fans, but for those who’ve always wondered, how did Abby Sciuto get that way? … you’re about to find out. The quirky fan favorite’s backstory will be explored when “NCIS” airs a special Abby-centric episode for February sweeps.
The cast is currently filming the “very, very Abby episode,” Pauley Perrette revealed Sunday at the Trevor Live benefit in L.A., according to TV Fanatic.
It’s one that “people have been asking for … for 10 years,” Perrette says.
“We actually go back and find out about Abby’s past and childhood,” she adds, so viewers may learn how she developed her special brand of pig-tailed goth-geek-chic.
Indeed, the show recently cast Brighton Sharbino as its little Abby, according to TV Line, who will play the character at the age of 10.
Of delving into Abby’s past, showrunner Gary Glasberg explains to the site, “What kind of origin story could we do with Abby that would be a little different? And rather than look back at her first days of working at NCIS, I was more interested in, ‘When did Abby first start develop an interest in forensics? And in people? In bodies, and in clues, things like that?’ So we decided to go way back.”
“From clothing choices to her hair, how she carries herself, things that she says…there are lots of great little prizes in this episode,” Glasberg also teases to TV Line.
“NCIS” airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS.
