Drew Barrymore Explains Her Unusual Baby Name on ‘Ellen’

New mom Drew Barrymore visited “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Thursday, where she glowed and giggled with baby talk about her daughter Olive, whom she welcomed in September with new husband Will Kopelman.

Her 10-week old daughter Olive is “a good baby,” Barrymore said, adding that she “counts her lucky stars every day” that she has such a happy baby. “She’s a nice person.”

As celebrities are known for their unusual baby-naming rituals, Drew then explained how she and her husband came to name their little bundle of joy after the favored martini garnish.

“I never would have guessed that would have been the name,” Barrymore, 37, said. “But I was reading a book with my husband, and I was three months pregnant. They said your baby is the size of an Olive and that was it. We never looked back.”

“We were work shopping a few [names], as all people do who are so blessed to get to do this do,” she continued. “And then once the light was shed, there was just no turning back.”

Perhaps there’s another reason Barrymore has a soft spot for the word “Olive” — she provided the voice and executive produced the totally cute 1999 Christmas special, “Olive, the Other Reindeer.”

Wearing a baby cooking apron with an olive on it and downing a glass of wine, Barrymore then cooked up one of her own recipes for Ellen — and burning the garlic was part of the plan. Watch the Clip Below.
