Seinfeld” alum Michael Richards has been tapped to co-star opposite Kirstie Alley in her upcoming TV Land pilot “Giant Baby,” reports Deadline.com.

The gig marks the comedian’s first regular series role in over a decade. The pilot will be taped next week, TV Land said Tuesday, and if the network likes what they see, it could be ordered to series.

“Baby’s” core cast also includes Alley’s “Cheers” buddy Rhea Perlman, as previously announced, and now one of her “Dancing with the Stars” buddies too.

“DWTS: All-Stars” hunk Gilles Marini (“Switched at Birth,” “Brothers & Sisters“) has been added to the cast as a guest star with potential for a recurring role, according to Deadline. Alley also promised her “DWTS” partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy a part on the show, although nothing formal has yet to be confirmed.

“Giant Baby” revolves around Alley’s character Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway star whose life is turned upside down when the son she gave away turns up wanting to connect after his adopted mother dies, says the Deadline story. Richards will play Maddie’s limo driver; Perlman will play her long-suffering assistant/best friend; and Marini will play her chef.

“Seinfeld” Edges Out “The Honeymooners” as Greatest Sitcom of All Time?

Richards starred for nine years on “Seinfeld” as the beloved king of quirk Cosmo Kramer, followed by his failed NBC sitcom “The Michael Richards Show” in 2000. But it was his reputation-ruining meltdown during a stand-up set at the Laugh Factory in 2006, in which he went on a notorious “N-word” rant against a heckler, that has led Richards to keep a low profile since. However, he’s been slowly dipping his toe back into the entertainment pool, first joining on Larry David’s “Seinfeld” reunion on his HBO comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” in 2009, and appearing earlier this year in Jerry Seinfeld’s web series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”
