It’s looking more and more like AMC has un-killed “The Killing” — five months after the moody mystery drama was axed by the network, a new season is reportedly in the works, according to Variety.

The Variety report claims showrunner Veena Sud and executive producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin went back into the writers’ room this week to begin working on Season 3 of the series, which starred Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as a pair of perpetually soaked Seattle cops trying to solve the highly convoluted murder of a teenage girl that stretched across two seasons (and infuriated viewers).

There’s been much mystery surrounding the fate of the show; soon after the network announced in July that it had been cancelled, rumors emerged that Netflix was interested in reviving it.

Now it appears “The Killing” will return to AMC (with the possible deal to become available on Netflix after its AMC run still in play), likely to launch in May, says Variety, with production set to begin in a few months.

Neither the cable network, the studio, nor the producers have confirmed the resurrection of “The Killing” or have commented on the Variety article at this time.
