Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy were the couple that aced the chemistry test all season long on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars.” But on Monday night, after they performed two solid dances and were questioned about a real-life romance by both judge Carrie Ann Inaba and hostess Brooke Burke-Charvet, Kelly and Val still left their relationship a mystery.

When asked how it felt to be put under a microscope, Kelly sarcastically told xfinityTV after the show, “It’s so awesome to be called out on national television.” She added, “I don’t give a s—. Whatever!”

But the pair was understandably proud to have made it to the finals. For their freestyle, Kelly and Val performed a “Dirty Dancing”-themed number to the movie’s hit song, “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” and received a score of 29.5. Val explained that the concept “felt right. I think it was very appropriate for us. Our season draws a lot of parallels with the movie. She was counted out. I think pre-season, nobody ever saw her making a challenge like she has and so I felt like I contributed to her coming off [well].” For his part, Val, brother of longtime “DWTS” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, said, “I was somebody’s younger sibling coming into the season and I finally have my own voice and my own kind of spotlight and I love that she was able to create that for me and I was able to create something for her. The night was perfect to celebrate that.”

Kelly became an aerialist for the first part of the dance, swinging around on silk ropes high above the ballroom floor before joining partner Val. “I felt really comfortable up there and I wish I could have been up there all night,” she told reporters.

During the dance, Val also revealed his secret talent, playing the violin! “I played violin since I was 5 ’til about 18. I played in Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. At 18, I went to college and had less time and dancing took off so I focused on that,” he revealed.

When asked how sexy a man who plays violin is, Kelly said, “the sexiest! It can only get sexier if he’s playing it naked.”

Kelly, who also got a 29.5 with Val for their first dance of the night, a Paso Doble, said she couldn’t help dreaming of her second mirror ball. “When you get to the home stretch and see that it’s viable, we want it just as bad as the other two couples,” the Season 1 celebrity champ revealed.

Although they’ve made it look easy, Val emphasized again that their chemistry was hard-won. “I said to her before the season, ‘if you want this to work, we have to be committed to each other unconditionally. I have to be your number one priority, you’re my number one priority — your well-being on and off the floor.’ That’s the reason why we developed the kind of relationship that we did.”

Win or lose on Tuesday night, Kelly and Val will make the New York rounds together on the post-”DWTS” press tour. Then “I’m back to work [at "General Hospital"] on Monday and I know I’ll go through a little bit of a depression and it’ll be weird,” the actress sighed.

The “DWTS: All-Stars” winner will be revealed on Tuesday night’s two-hour season finale.
