“Boy Meets World” stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their original roles for the Disney Channel’s upcoming spin-off of the beloved ’90s show.
That’s right, Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence will return to appear in the pilot of the sequel series called “Girl Meets World,” the network has confirmed.
The teen comedy, which comes from the first “World’s” original creator Michael Jacobs, will center around Cory and Topanga’s 13-year-old daughter Riley Matthews. That role has yet to be cast.
Savage, 32, and Fishel, 31, who starred on the popular ABC sitcom from 1993-2000, are thrilled to be a part of the new series, which Disney says is still in the “very early stages of development.”
“I’m going to be a father! Well, on TV at least. The Boy Meets World sequel is officially happening!” Savage tweeted Monday.
And in a fan appreciation letter on her Tumblr page, Fishel wrote, “First of all, let me say that you, the fans of Boy Meets World, have been awesome. That word is often used incorrectly by people, including myself, on a daily basis but you have truly been awe inspiring. You, yes, even you, are the reason that Girl Meets World will be made.”
