UPDATE: Ariel Winter’s family is disputing reports that the 14-year-old TV star is being physically and emotionally abused by her mother.
Winter’s brother Jimmy Workman has spoken out about the abuse reports that surfaced Wednesday after Winter’s mother Crystal lost temporary custody of her child.
“There is no truth to these allegations,” Workman told Us Weekly. “This is a mother who does everything for her kids… Chris misses Ariel and wants her to come home.”
Winter’s mother also denied the allegations telling People magazine, “It’s all untrue, it’s all untrue.”
The “Modern Family” star has been placed under the guardianship of her 34-year-old sister Shanelle until the next court hearing, schedule for Nov. 20.
The 14-year-old child star, who plays Alex Dunphy on the hit ABC sitcom, is reportedly being physically and emotionally abused by her mother Crystal Workman.
Court sources tell TMZ that at a guardianship hearing on Oct. 3, judges determined the allegations were serious enough to remove Ariel from her home and ordered Workman to stay 100 feet away from her daughter.
Winter’s older sister Shanelle Workman, 34, has been granted temporary custody.
Another hearing is set for Nov. 20.
A representative for Winter has not yet commented on the report.
