Oprah Winfrey is getting back in the drama game, signing a deal with HBO to produce a new series from Winfrey’s Harpo Films.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the untitled project will focus on “a wealthy academic who has become the first black president of a prestigious liberal arts college. He and his family are thrust into national headlines, forcing them to present an idyllic public façade, all while engaging in agonizing personal battles and struggling with dark obsessions.”
Her company Harpo locked in a long-term deal with HBO way back in 2008 to develop miniseries, movies, documentaries and scripted series for the network.
In other Oprah news, she announced on her Facebook page that Justin Bieber will become the latest artist to appear for an interview on her OWN series “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”
“Me and the Bieber just finished our interview,” she posted on Wednesday. “Good stuff!”
The episode will air Nov. 25, and go backstage with the singer on the Bieber Believe tour.
