First Lady Michelle Obama admitted she’s not averse to watching Bravo’s “Real Housewives” reality shows from time to time.

In fact, the wife of the President of the United States answered “Real Housewives” when Kelly Ripa asked her to name her favorite reality TV show Friday morning on “Live with Kelly and Michael.”

The reality-TV question was part of a “First Lady Lightning Round” of questions on various personal and pop-culture topics posed by Ripa and co-host Michael Strahan.

“I do love a little ‘Real Housewives’ every now and then,” Mrs. Obama confessed, though she didn’t specify which edition she watches — New York City, New Jersey, Atlanta, Miami, the O.C., Beverly Hills or the cancelled one, Washington, D.C. (ironically). The comment was the second time in two days that the first couple made a reference to reality television — the President himself acknowledged his recent endorsement by Honey Boo Boo (on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” earlier this week) when he spoke at a star-studded banquet in Manhattan Thursday night (also attended by Mitt Romney).

The appearance by the First Lady on “Live” Friday was part of her ongoing media blitz in support of her husband’s re-election campaign. The next stop for her: “Jimmy Kimmel Live” next Thursday, where she’ll appear solo.

She went solo on “Live” too — an appearance that was taped Wednesday and held for Friday. In the meantime, her husband appeared at that Manhattan dinner (the annual Al Smith Dinner sponsored by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York and attended by New York’s power elite) and “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” Thursday night.

These appearances on talk shows such as “Live” give the politicos an opportunity to relax as they field softball questions. On “Live,” softball was the operative word as Kelly and Michael asked the First Lady questions about her family life in the White House, her favorite songs, and whether her husband wears boxers or briefs (a question we could have done without). Her answer on that one: Neither — which drew giggles from the audience who’d felt the First Lady was being naughty.

She also “admitted” that she carries nothing in her purse (all such things are handled by support personnel) and her guilty pleasure is “French fries.” And if she could have a single superpower, she said she’d like to fly.

At least Strahan and Ripa acknowledged that their questions would be anything but challenging. “If you think the debates are tough, you haven’t seen us,” Strahan said, obviously joking when he introduced the “Lightning Round” segment.

As for her husband, Michelle said she was “proud” of him and what he’s accomplished in his first term. “It’s a hard job and he has managed it so well,” she said. “And we need four more years.”
