We knew it had to happen and here it is: TNT is luring a “Knots Landing” super-couple back to “Dallas” for Season 2.

Gary and Val Ewing will return to Southfork for a family reunion when Joan Van Ark and Ted Shackelford reprise their roles on the new “Dallas,” according to TV Guide.

The episode will air in Spring 2013 on TNT.

“Knots Landing” was the hit spin-off of “Dallas” that ran for 14 seasons (1979-1993) and followed the cul-de-sac exploits of J.R. Ewing’s (Larry Hagman) brother Gary and his wife Val — and all their looney, vindictive neighbors.

The last time Van Ark’s Valene appeared on the original “Dallas” was back in 1981, TV Guide notes, while Shackelford’s Gary headed home to Southfork in 1985 for the burial of his brother, Bobby (Patrick Duffy), you know, before the whole shower incident.

Shackelford currently appears in a recurring role on the CBS soap “The Young and the Restless.” Van Ark, who appeared on “Y&R” in 2004, has guest starred on “Nip/Tuck” and “My Name Is Earl.”

The second season of “Dallas” returns with a two-hour premiere on Monday, January 28 at 9/8c on TNT.
