Since former “General Hospital” executive producer Jill Farren Phelps took the reins of “The Young & the Restless,” fans have been wondering if she was going to cast any GH actors.

Phelps is, after all, known for hiring actors she has worked with before, whom the Internet has dubbed FOJ (friends of Jill). She already cast Robert Adamson and Hunter Hayley King, whom she worked with on the telenovela “Hollywood Heights,” as Y&R’s new Summer and Noah.

Now, true to form, Phelps has just booked former GH star Ignacio Serricchio , who played psycho stalker Diego Alacazar, to portray Alex, described by TV Guide as “a streetwise undercover officer who comes to Genoa City from the Big Apple with a big secret.”

Serricho’s first episode will air in December. The character’s description sounds awfully similar to Ronan (Jeff Branson), who started out as an FBI agent and turned out to be Nina’s (Tricia Cast) long-lost son.

Phelps, who has stated that she wants the show to feature more diverse characters, has also cast two African-American newcomers. Redaric Williams will play Tyler Douglas and Lamon Archey will play Mason (no last name announced, which could mean that he’s the relative of another character on the show.) Both characters are slated to debut in November, according to Entertainment Weekly.

There will be room on the canvas for the new additions due to the departures of Genie Francis (Geneveive), Debbi Morgan (Harmony) and Marcy Rylan (Abby).

The first episodes produced by Phelps and written by new headwriter Josh Griffith aired this week.
