Lifetime has renewed “Dance Moms” for a third season, the network announced Wednesday.
The network has ordered 26 new hourlong episodes of the hit show that stars dance task master Abby Lee Miller. The new season will debut next year.
Season 2 of the dance docu-series, which is the number one unscripted cable series in its time period (Tuesdays at 9/8c) among the Women 18-49 demo, wrapped last month.
A “spin-off” show also featuring crabby Abby — the new dance competition called “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition” — premiered Tuesday night at 9/8c on Lifetime.
“With major growth season-to-season and a bonafide star in Abby Lee Miller, ‘Dance Moms’ continues to be a top performer and important franchise for Lifetime. It’s become a force in the docusoap genre and we’re very pleased to bring ‘Dance Moms’ back with more episodes next year,” said Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President, Programming, of Lifetime Networks.
