On Monday’s iconic dance night on “Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars,” host Tom Bergeron announced that an iconic reality TV judge would be making a guest appearance on the show. Former “American Idol” and “X Factor” judge Paula Abdul will be judging the All-Stars’ dance moves next week in a one-shot appearance.
Paula is a huge fan of “DWTS” and after being spotted in the audience some seasons ago, she told reporters that she’d love to be one of the celebrity dance competitors. But now, “DWTS” will give her the chance to wield the scoring paddle instead next to regulars Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli.
And backstage after the show, the cast members told xfinityTV they were thrilled that the singer/dancer/choreographer—known for her sympathetic if somewhat wacky demeanor on Idol—would be dissecting their dances next Monday.
Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan squealed, “I’m so excited! She was one of the original Laker Girls back when the Laker Girls were seen as the prime dancers of all time. And [she’s just] an incredible performer. That just gives me more anxiety of wanting to get past this round.” And her pro, Louis Van Amstel elaborated, “I think this show is the most appropriate for her to be on, being a huge performer, dancer, and choreographer. She’s amazing.”
French actor Gilles Marini told xfinityTV, “Paula has been entertaining people for over 20 years, probably more. This woman is incredible and the experience that she’s going to bring to this show is going to be fantastic. I cannot wait to have Paula Abdul doing the judging.”
Kirstie Alley agreed, saying, “I’ve met Paula and I think it’s going to be really exciting.”
Longtime “DWTS” pro Cheryl Burke, who dances with football legend Emmitt Smith, thought it was a properly creative move for the All-Star season. “I think it’s great. It adds to the show,” Cheryl said. “I think it’s great to have new people and Paula’s always been a fan; she’s come here to watch and she has a dance background. It’s good to freshen it up. It’s Season 15, you guys! We’ve gotta keep it fresh!”
