“’Ben and Kate’ and ‘The Mindy Project’ have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real – which is why we’re confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesdays,” said Fox Chairman of Entertainment, Kevin Reilly.

Since their September 25 debut, the two critically praised comedies from creators Mindy Kaling and Dana Fox have not performed as well as their Tuesday night roommate “New Girl,” but both have seen growth in DVR viwership. Last week’s episode of “Ben and Kate” brought in 3.26 million viewers, while “Mindy” raked in 3.75 million.

“The Mindy Project” and “Ben and Kate” join NBC series “The New Normal,” “Go On” and “Revolution” as the first new shows to be given full season pick-ups.

Fox’s only other new fall series, “The Mob Doctor,” is currently on life support. Given the drama’s poor performance thus far it is likely to become one of fall’s first casualties.
