The hosts of “The Talk” kicked off the show’s third season with some new looks, choosing to go au natural for Monday’s episode (see below).
The hosts, who went without makeup, fake hair, or other cosmetic enhancements for the whole episode, were supportive of one another as they braved the cameras bare-faced.
“You look 13 years old!” host Aisha Tyler said of a fresh-faced Julie Chen. “I’ve gone into certain stores where they’ve asked me if I’m lost,” Chen joked. While prepping for the show without her makeup on, Chen described being virtually unrecognizable to others, even in her frequent haunts. “I’m like, ‘Let me go get my nails done,’” said Chen of her last-minute beauty cheat. “This woman came in behind me and she says, ‘Ling, how long for my mani-pedi?’”
The episode’s first guest, actress and author Jamie Lee Curtis, who made waves when she posed, un-PhotoShopped in a 2002 issue of More magazine, eagerly joined the hosts in their makeup-free Monday.
“What you guys did here today was breathtaking,” said Curtis. “The impact that this is going to have — you have no idea.”
“Why did you decide not to dye your hair?” host Sheryl Underwood asked the silver-haired actress of her natural locks. “This is the way I look,” said Curtis. “I just found it to be humiliating. Just, for me, sitting there with the cape and the stuff and the burning and the smell — for me, this is really God’s intention for me.”
“The Young and the Restless” star Melody Thomas Scott, said that despite her glamorous on-screen look, coming on set without makeup was hardly an issue. “To me, this is no big deal. I don’t know it’s because I’ve been on my show sans makeup, hair – I mean, I’ve gone on my show looking like holy hell many times. So, it doesn’t faze me in the least. And really, that’s not important.”
