Leave it to Kathie Lee Gifford to find herself in the middle of a media frenzy.

Fortunately for the “Today” co-host, the headlines are about another celebrity, Taylor Swift.

Swift made headlines when Gifford’s stepdaughter Victoria Gifford Kennedy claimed that Swift was not invited to her daughter Kyle’s wedding last weekend in Boston. Apparently, Swift showed up anyway with boyfriend Conor Kennedy. Although Swift’s representatives denied the report, Gifford said on “Today” that the headlines were true.

“Frank’s daughter’s account of what happened in Boston is accurate,” Gifford told fellow co-host Hoda Kotb on the show. “She said to me as it was happening, ‘I’m really not happy about this.’ I said, ‘What happened?’ She told me that Conor had e-mailed or texted her or something like that like an hour before and… he had not RSVP’d so she didn’t know if he was coming or not.”

She went on to say that details of the dinner had been in place for a while, and that Victoria didn’t think the event would be able to accommodate the extra bodies.

“She heard that he might be (coming), but he got in touch with her an hour earlier and said, ‘Can I bring my girlfriend?’ It was a beautiful sitdown dinner that had been planned for months.” Kathie Lee continued. “But she said, very nicely, ‘Please do not come.’ Well, guess what? They came.”

Additionally, Kathie Lee said Swift was actually asked to leave twice before she departed the grounds.

“Did she?” asked Hoda.

“I thought she did,” replied Gifford. “I was out in the hallway. She was waiting, standing around and he came, took her hand and they left.”

Gifford also added that she wasn’t sure if Swift was even aware that Conor had been asked to forego the festivities.

Of course, Swift’s representatives state that these reports are false.

“Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there,” the singer’s rep told the New York Post.

Here’s the clip of Gifford explaining the situation…
