Yet another name has surfaced in the real-life game of “Who Wants to Judge ‘American Idol’?”
Kanye West is reportedly in negotiations with producers to become an “American Idol” judge, according to TMZ, and adds yet another heavyweight artist to the mix of potential names that would appear next season.
Sources close to the production told the site that “Idol” producers reached out to Kanye recently about filling one of the open judging spots and received interest back from the singer. However, he is still “on the fence” for a couple of reasons. First, he isn’t sure if the Fox series is “in his wheelhouse” and second, he wants enough money to at least match Mariah Carey’s salary of $18 million per year.
Earlier reports this week indicated that singer Nicki Minaj is already in place for the show. TMZ now reports that there may actually be four judges this time around. Other frontrunners are said to include Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Enrique Iglesias.
