David Mamet Working on ‘Have Gun – Will Travel’ Reboot
LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) – David Mamet is gunning for a hit with his next project.
Mamet is heading up a reboot of the classic TV western “Have Gun – Will Travel,” which is being developed by CBS via a script order. Mamet will write and executive-produce the project, with Elliott Webb also executive-producing.
The original series, which ran on CBS from 1957 to 1963, starred Richard Boone as gentleman gunfighter Paladin.
CBS has expressed interest in a number of gunslinger-themed projects of late. In addition to the 1960s-era “Vegas,” which stars Dennis Quaid as Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy who becomes Las Vegas’ sheriff and premieres in the fall, the network has also been working on a reboot of the classic cowboy series “The Rifleman,” with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerers’ Stone” writer Chris Columbus penning the project.
