Fareed Zakaria is getting back in the saddle.

After using an unattributed quote in a column about gun control in Time magazine and subsequently being suspended by both Time as well as CNN for his actions, the two companies have lifted the punishment and Zakaria will now return to the spotlight.

According to Deadline.com, both Time and CNN conducted internal reviews of his work and both concluded that there was nothing in his history to merit further suspension.

“CNN has completed its internal review of Fareed Zakaria’s work for CNN, including a look back at his Sunday programs, documentaries, and CNN.com blogs. The process was rigorous. We found nothing that merited continuing the suspension,” the network said in a statement.

Zakaria has since apologized for his decision and CNN and Zakaria will now look to strengthen procedures for his show and blog.

Officially, Zakaria returns to “GPS” on Sunday, August 26 at 10am on CNN.
