NBC is staging a smashing little reunion this fall: Sean Hayes will be reuniting with his “Will & Grace” costar Debra Messing on her new drama “Smash” for a guest starring role in Season 2.
The network announced Monday that Hayes will play Terrence Falls, a comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical “Liaisons,” based on the novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.” Due to a series of comic circumstances, he becomes a major thorn in the side for Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and other characters.
As previously announced, former “Idol” and “Dreamgirl” Jennifer Hudson is also guest starring on the second season of the drama about the backstage bitchery of bringing a Broadway musical to life. “Smash” stars Debra Messing, Oscar winner Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport (“Pirates of the Caribbean”), “American Idol’s” Katharine McPhee, and Broadway star Megan Hilty.
Fans of Jack McFarland can also find the Emmy-winning Hayes on another NBC series this fall: Hayes also has a multi-episode guest starring role on the sitcom “Up All Night,” playing Ava’s (Maya Rudolph) former accompanist.
Since leaving “Will & Grace: behind, Hayes has been nominated for a Tony (for his Broadway debut in the musical “Promises, Promises” with Kristin Chenoweth) and is the producer of several TV series, including NBC’s “Grimm,” Betty White’s “Hot in Cleveland,” and the TV Land sitcom starring Cedric the Entertainer, “The Soul Man.”
