As Showtime’s stellar drama “Homeland” gears up for its sophomore year, the network has released a new well-timed campaign-themed trailer to tease Season 2.
Called “Brody 2012,” the footage asks haunting questions like “What happens when your country forgets you?” and “How dangerous could you be when you have nothing left to lose?”
Because Nick Brody has indeed been elevated from former Marine/POW (and secret terrorist) to a U.S. Congressman.
The only person who discovered the truth about Brody is Claire Danes’ formidable-yet-unstable CIA agent Carrie Mathison, who was last seen having ECT shock treatments. Will she remember the connection she made between Brody and terrorist leader Abu Nazir?
As the second season opens, Carrie (Claire Danes) has lost her job at the CIA and is recovering from a stay in a psychiatric facility after her mental illness was exposed. She grapples with the fallout from the events in the season finale for the first three episodes, as she tries to adjust to a more normal, civilian life.
“She’s suffering from a real crisis of confidence,” Danes recently told TV reporters at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. “She gets her mojo back, but it takes some time.”

But Carrie will have at least one ally still on her side, post-meltdown — Mandy Patinkin’s Saul, whom Danes refers to as “Carrie’s conscience.” She adds, “There’s no one she trusts or respects more.”
While Carrie works on finding her equilibrium, Brody is doing a balancing act of a different kind.
With Brody now in Congress, he has the potential to be even more dangerous, but he’ll also be “juggling more balls” points out actor Damian Lewis, between his loyalties to his family, his new political role and his ties to Muslim extremists.
“Essentially he’s everybody’s b-tch. He’s pretty f–ked,” Lewis sums up.
Season 2 of “Homeland” premieres Sunday, Sept. 30 at 10/9c on Showtime.
