Sounds like life out of the spotlight has been a bummer for one reality TV couple.

Former “Real Housewives of New York City” cast members Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen, who were dropped from the Bravo show last season, are rumored to be on the “verge of a split.”

The pair, who seemed to have a solid, if somewhat bizarre, relationship on the show, plan to fix their rocky relationship by getting into “Couples Therapy” … on TV.

Alex and Simon are reportedly starring on “Couples Therapy,” a new VH1 reality show that films famous (ie, reality stars) couples as they go through “intense counseling,” according to TMZ.

Sources close to the production tell TMZ that controversial May-December couple Courtney Stodden, 17, and her actor-husband Doug Hutchison, 52, will also be featured on the show, along with R&B singer JoJo (from K-Ci & JoJo) and his wife, as well as Dirty.com blogger Nik Richie and his reality star wife Shayne Lamas (a former “Bachelor” winner and Lorenzo’s daughter).

Filming on the romance rehab show began earlier this week.
