Oprah Winfrey reportedly wants to talk to a jailed O.J. Simpson where he will be featured in her OWN series “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” but Simpson denied Oprah the chance because he believe that Oprah was one of the reasons he went to jail in the first place.
BET reports that after an article appeared in the New York Daily News that discussed an upcoming film about Simpson, called “The Unpromotable,” a producer for Winfrey’s OWN network contacted Norman Pardo, an associate of the imprisoned football star, about arranging an interview with the disgraced athlete. Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in a Nevada jail after being found guilty of kidnapping, robbery and use of a deadly weapon.
Pardo then said that Winfrey’s producers wanted Simpson “to go on her show and confess” to the infamous 1994 murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and Ronald Goldman. Simpson was tried and acquitted of both murders back in 1995.
But the interview was a no-go from the start because, according to Pardo, “O.J. doesn’t like Oprah. He feels like she’s partially responsible for him being in jail now.” He noted that “She never let anyone like me come on the ["The Oprah Winfrey Show"] and talk about him.”
The only way, according to Pardo, that Simpson will do the interview-as well as confess-was if Winfrey could get him out of jail.
“She can get him to confess, don’t get me wrong — everyone has their price,” he claims. “If she can get him out of prison, that is.”
That said, Pardo said he will bring it up again with Simpson the next time they chat.
