Peggy Olson stays in the picture.

That’s the word from “Mad Men” creator and executive producer Matt Weiner, who says Elisabeth Moss, who plays plucky Peggy on the revered AMC ’60s drama, will be back in Season Six, even though she’s left Sterling Cooper Draper & Pryce, the ad agency that is the center of the action on “Mad Men.”

It was a rare disclosure for the tight-lipped producer, who usually refrains from revealing anything — not even the smallest tidbit — about future episodes of his show.

The question of Moss’ future on the show arose in an interview he gave to TVLine.com here.

“Mad Men” fans have wondered about Peggy’s future on the show ever since she accepted a job from a rival agency on the show in the recently concluded fifth season, leading fans to question how she’ll figure into future storylines, if at all.

Weiner says she’ll be back, but he wouldn’t reveal the extent of her exposure on the show’s new season, which won’t be seen until at least next summer.

“When people leave Sterling Cooper, sometimes it is the end for [the character],” Weiner told TVLine. “But I will spoil that one tiny piece of anticipation and tell people that Elisabeth will be showing up to work.”

That was the extent of what he would reveal, however.

“Mad Men” was just nominated for the usual armload of Emmy awards, including a Best Actress nomination for Moss.
