Watch: Comedy Runs in the Family for Ben Stiller, Dad Jerry

Ben Stiller recruited his dad, funnyman Jerry Stiller, to appear in Ben’s earliest films — self-styled, home-made movies the precocious comedian-to-be produced in the family’s apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in the 1970s.

And a brief clip from one of these early works was shown Friday night on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” where the younger Stiller appeared to promote his new movie “The Watch,” co-starring Vince Vaughn.

You can see the home-movie clip — from a teen-aged boy’s adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe story “The Telltale Heart” — in the “Tonight Show” clip, above.

Stiller also talked to Leno about his life in Hawaii, where he now lives.
