Conservative Group Upset with ‘The New Normal’

First they tried to take down Ellen DeGeneres and her relationship with JC Penney (unsuccessfully), now the conservative group One Million Moms has issues with at least one show from the new fall season.

The anti-gay organization sent a call to members to boycott one of NBC’s new series for this fall, “The New Normal.” The series, which is executive produced by Ryan Murphy, features Georgia King playing a single mother who agrees to be a surrogate for a gay couple (played by Justin Bartha and Andrew Rannells) who want to start a family of their own.

The group tells its followers that the premise of the happy couple wanting to raise a baby subjects “families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage. These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture.”

To protest the launch of the show, the controversial group to send a pre-written letter to email to Comcast and NBC officials in an effort to make the network drop the show and stated that they would appeal to advertisers to not sponsor the program.

The series premiere of “The New Normal” is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11 at 9:30/8:30 p.m. Central.
