Ann Curry is returning to “The Today Show” to cover the aftermath of the shocking shooting tragedy in Colorado.

Curry has been tapped to co-anchor this weekend’s editions of “Today” — alongside her replacement Savannah Guthrie. Jenna Wolfe will also be live from New York.

Both journalists will report live from Aurora, Colo., for “special coverage” of the movie theater massacre that occurred overnight during a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” The deranged gunman, identified as 24-year-old James Holmes, opened fire during the Batman film, taking the lives of 12 innocent victims and wounding 59 more. Police revealed at a news conference after he was captured that Holmes had painted his hair red and referred to himself as “The Joker.”

Curry will also anchor a special edition of “Dateline,” broadcast live from Aurora, Friday at 9/8c on NBC and again on “Dateline” Sunday, July 22 at 7/6c.

Guthrie replaced Curry at the end of June as Matt Lauer’s new co-host.
