The “Idol” exodus is in full effect.

It’s confirmed: Jennifer Lopez is leaving “American Idol” after two seasons as a judge on the Fox singing competition.

That’s the word from “Idol” ringleader Ryan Seacrest, who posted the news on his Twitter page Friday morning, one day after Steven Tyler announced he was quitting “Idol” to focus on his music.

“Just confirmed w/ @JLo she’s made up her mind…will leave idol. :( gonna miss her,” Seacrest Tweeted.

Lopez called into Seacrest’s radio show Friday and announced, “The time has come.”

“I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do, that I put … on hold because I love Idol so much,” Lopez said to the “Idol” host.

“I could do Idol for the rest of my life,” she added, “but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. We had an amazing run.”

J.Lo hinted at her “Idol” departure Thursday on “The Today Show.” Find Out What She Said Here.

As one diva is ushered out, another may be waiting in the wings.

Could Mariah Carey, who previously had been rumored to be interested in joining Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor,” be headed for Simon’s old show “American Idol” instead?

Mariah is reportedly in “serious talks” to become one of the replacements at the “Idol” judges’ table for Season 12, which returns in January.

“She’s in play,” an insider tells People. “They are in serious talks.”

Meanwhile, there’s no word on where things stand with judge Randy Jackson, the only remaining original “Idol” judge who’s weathered the high-profile departures of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara Dioguardi, and now Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

Although there are new unsubstantiated rumors that he too is considering leaving (probably just because everyone else has at this point), but we’d be surprised if Jackson actually bailed. Stay tuned.
