With Steven Tyler officially off the judge’s table at “American Idol,” where exactly does that leave Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson who are also without contracts?
While Lopez has hinted that she may be moving on instead of returning for a third season of the show, Deadline.com reports that although Lopez does indeed want to return to performing as well as return to movies, money could make her change her mind. The site quotes an insider from JLo’s camp stating that Lopez said that “I’m not going back unless they pay me what I want.”
The report also quotes Fox sources as saying that negotiations are “complicated and fluid,” noting that “It might get resolved very quickly or may drag on for another few weeks.”
Still, it’s tough to ignore Lopez’s quote on “Today” Thursday morning, where she said “I am thinking it’s time for me to go and do other things I love to do.”
Meanwhile, US Magazine states that Mariah Carey-who had once been rumored to be heading to “The X Factor“-could be one of the first in line to fill JLo’s spot if she does choose to leave. It helps, of course, that Jackson serves as Carey’s manager.
As for Jackson, who has been with the show from the beginning, the magazine quotes sources saying that Randy will also be leaving the judge’s table and would instead take on a mentoring role on the show.
