“Project Runway’s” motto couldn’t be more true: One day you’re in, the next day, you’re out.

That’s the case for the frontman gig for the second edition of “Project Runway All Stars,” which has swapped out its supermodel host … twice even.

Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley created “huge drama” behind the scenes as Lifetime gears up to film the new “All Stars” season in New York, according to The New York Post.

With Season 1 host Angela Lindvall set to be replaced, Whiteley had lobbied hard for the job, which she landed. But just before filming began, the beauty apparently got a better offer and bolted. Whiteley, an aspiring actress who appeared in 2011′s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” nabbed a role in “Mad Max: Fury Road” and took off to Namibia to shoot the film with Riley Keough and Zoe Kravitz, a source tells The Post.

“Literally days before filming, the show suddenly had no host. Rosie had been pushing really hard for the job. She’d charmed everyone. But then with less than three weeks to go, Rosie pulled out to do ‘Mad Max,’ creating a huge drama. It put the production in a terrible position, and the Weinstein Co. even threatened to sue Rosie.”

A source on Whiteley’s camp, however, tells the Post “she was never fully committed to the project and there was no signed contract.”

After Whiteley fell through, producers were left to scramble and find a new face for the show, ultimately booking Estée Lauder model Carolyn Murphy as the new host. Models Karolina Kurkova, Hilary Rhoda and Elaine Irwin, as well as designer Rachel Roy, were quickly brought in to audition before the job went to Murphy.

Murphy joins “Runway All Stars” judges Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi, with Marie Claire’s Joanna Coles as the mentor. Filming on Season 2 began in early June, with the very recently divorced Katie Holmes taping a guest judge appearance last Monday.

“Everyone expected Katie to cancel, but she didn’t,” the source added. “She’s friendly and professional but didn’t say a word about her divorce.”
