Right or wrong, Star Jones was never one to mince words. Now, she is speaking out about CNN and daytime host Anderson Cooper about his recent announcement that he was gay.

On Thursday’s edition of “Today,” Jones said that Cooper was like Oprah and only admitted personal details of their private lives in order to grab ratings, noting that his proclamation of his sexual preference was similar to Oprah Winfrey admitting that she had once smoked crack or was pregnant when she was 14.

“He’s a daytime talk show host and when the rating slip in daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them,” Jones said on the show, before adding, “‘I remember Oprah said she smoked crack, Oprah said she was pregnant at 14 and considered suicide. There [are] times when you generate information for ratings.’

However, even Jones realized that she may have gone too far, quickly pointing out, “Whoa! I shouldn’t have said that! I say bravo! Bravo!”
