Did Tom Cruise turn a possible “Dawson’s Creek” reunion into a mission impossible?
Katie Holmes was reportedly approached at one point to discuss heading back to “Dawson’s Creek” — the TV show in which audiences first fell for Holmes as sweetie pie Joey Potter — for a reunion with former costars James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson. But husband Tom Cruise disapproved and allegedly nixed the idea, claims Us Weekly.
“[Producers] were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie,” a source tells the mag. “Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad.”
A disappointed Katie “didn’t care how ‘low-brow’ he thinks Dawson’s Creek is,” the source said. “She wanted to do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun — something she rarely does anymore.”
Another insider told Us Weekly that Cruise also refused to allow Holmes to accept any racy roles with “sexually compromising scenes, largely because the Scientology folks objected.”
Maybe that’s why “Creek” alum Michelle Williams is a multiple Oscar nominee and Katie Holmes is guest judging “Project Runway: All Stars.”
Similar reports persist that Cruise controlled Holmes’ acting career, as well as much of their marriage, from which Holmes recently “broke free,” filing for divorce last week in New York and requesting sole custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri.
