Producer J.J. Abrams has tapped one of the former stars of “Lost” for a leading role in his newest prime-time series, “Revolution.”
It’s Elizabeth Mitchell, who played Dr. Juliet Burke on “Lost” and will now star as Rachel Matheson, a mother with a son and daughter who will all struggle to survive in a world without electricity.
That’s the premise of this apocalyptic series coming to NBC this fall. Billy Burke and Giancarlo Esposito also star in the fanciful, futuristic show.
The casting of Mitchell is being reported on multiple show business Web sites this weekend, including here, on the Hollywood Reporter site.
Apparently, Mitchell is replacing Andrea Roth, who played the role in the series pilot. Roth is best known for her role in “Rescue Me,” as Janet Gavin, the estranged wife of Tommy Gavin, the flawed firefighter played by Denis Leary.
The reason for replacing Roth with Mitchell, if any, was not specified in any of the on-line reports we saw on Sunday.
