As we creep closer toward the Season 7 premiere of “Dexter,” Showtime is torturing us with teaser clips of the moment fans are dying for — how Dexter’s sister reacts to accidentally witnessing him commit murder in the jaw-dropping season finale.
Yes, the Miami serial killer has finally been caught by the cops — ie, his adopted sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), who was on her way to the church to reveal her romantic feelings for Dexter (Michael C. Hall) … just as he was stabbing bad guy Travis (Colin Hanks) in the chest. Talk about a criminally complicated situation!
In the first official promo for the new season, Deb and Dexter face the startling revelation and come to “the moment of truth,” as they appear somber in scenes inter cut with a bloody knife blade and a cop badge with blood dripping down it.
“Jesus, Dexter,” Deb says chillingly. Watch It Above.
The highly anticipated first two minutes of the “Dexter” premiere will be aired during Comic-Con on July 12, 2012, by the way.
Obviously, Deb’s dark discovery will be a “game-changer” and will shape the entire arc of this season, which features themes of “regret, responsibility, shame, betrayal” … “things that Dexter’s never experienced before,” according to a “Dexter” producer in a new interview with TV Guide.
“If the series-long quest for Dexter was to finally have someone who really knows him — well, be careful what you wish for because Deb now knows everything and that’s a game-changer,” executive producer Sara Colleton tells TV Guide.
So how will Dexter handle having someone so close in on his murderous secret?
“It is like Superman’s cape has been taken off,” Colleton says. “He’s extremely vulnerable and that is very interesting to see and to explore.”
The new season of “Dexter” begins Sunday, September 30 at 9/8c on Showtime.
