Oprah Winfrey rounded up the Kardashians for Sunday night’s episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” where the reality TV family tried to keep up with Oprah.
Like when Oprah wondered if Kim would be where she is today had it not been for that sex tape five years ago? Kim conceded it played a part in launching her fame. “You know, I think that’s how I was definitely introduced to the world,” Kim said. But, “It was a negative way, so I felt like I really had to work 10 times harder to get people to see the real me.”
Could “this” have happened if you all were not good-looking kids, Oprah also wondered of the family becoming a reality TV sensation?
“To be honest, probably not,” sister Khloe said candidly.
“I don’t think it would have happened if we were all skinny, pretty models,” Kim added. “I think it has to do with us, the curves, the dark hair,” she explained, giving a nod to their Middle Eastern decent.
Later, the Kardashian kids also defended their “momager” and responded to exploitation claims that mom Kris Jenner is “pimping out” her children.
Kim also revealed to Oprah that her failed 72-day marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries left her in a “deep depression.”
“I was in such a deep depression, I thought I was going to back away from it all,” Kim said.
When Oprah pressed her about the accusations that her over-the-top TV wedding was a publicity stunt, Kim responded: “If anything, the tough decision to end that relationship was such a risk of losing ratings, losing my fan base, but I had to take that risk for myself.”
But the experience also has forced Kim, 31, to grow up she says, and she now exhibits a new level of maturity after having an “epiphany” over last year. Now she’s “a changed person.” Meanwhile, Oprah also asked if “Kanye is the new fairy tale.”
