Denise Richards’ personal life may have served as tabloid fodder during her tumultuous marriage with bad boy Charlie Sheen, but during her appearance on Tuesday’s episode of “The Talk,” it became clear that things are looking up for the actress.
Host Julie Chen wasted no time in getting Richards to address the rumors about a rekindled romance with Bon Jovi guitarist and former flame Richie Sambora.
“We aren’t dating, but, as a lot of people have seen, I stay very friendly with my exes,” said Richards. “I’m friends with all of them.”
The 41-year-old actress, who appeared on the show to promote her upcoming film, “Madea’s Witness Protection,” was keen to discuss some of the happier aspects of her post-Sheen life, particularly her recent adoption in 2011.
“I’ve always wanted to adopt,” explained Richards. “After my divorce — I always saw myself with a large family — and thought, ‘Do I wait ’til I meet the right partner? Do I keep moving forward?’ and I decided to keep moving forward and pursued adoption on my own. Two years later, I was blessed with this beautiful baby girl.”
“It’s not as easy as some people think it’s going to be, because it took you two years,” added co-host Aisha Tyler.
“It took two years, and anyone who’s been through the process — celebrities have to go through it too — we had to do the home studies and the classes and everything, and twelve babies [later], she was number thirteen. There were twelve situations that fell through,” revealed Richards. Her third daughter, named Eloise, joins big sisters Sam, 8, and Lola, 7, Richards’ children with Sheen.
While she may not be setting her sights on finding a new husband, Richards wasn’t shy about revealing her latest crush.
“He’s so brilliant and he ad-libs,” said Richards of her “Madea” costar and director Tyler Perry. “He’s one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. I love him. I have a big crush on Tyler Perry.”
