Yvonne Strahovski had a killer time playing a spy girl on NBC’s “Chuck,” but her new gig just might top that.
Strahovski is joining the cast of “Dexter” for the upcoming season, Showtime announced Tuesday.
She’ll appear in a multi-episode story arc playing Hannah McKay, “a strong, independent woman with a past that she’s struggled to put behind her,” according to the release. She enters Dexter’s world when Miami Homicide asks for her help solving some old cases, and while working with her, Dexter Morgan “begins to wonder if there’s more to this woman than she’s professed.”
Strahovski joins previously announced Season 7 cast additions Ray Stevenson (“Rome”), who’s playing the leader of a Russian crime organization, and Jason Gedrick, who’s playing the manager of a Miami strip club.
While it’s great looking forward to next season’s big bads, what fans are really DYING to see is what happens next after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger in which Deb caught Dexter blood-red-handed in the act of murder, stabbing Travis in the chest!
Scott Buck Talks About That Major OMG! Moment From the Finale:
The season premiere will pick-up immediately where last season’s finale left off — with Deb’s reaction to what she just witnessed — and how she deals with the truly shocking truth.
The killer revelation complicates her already-complicated relationship with her brother (by adoption) Dexter, for whom she has developed romantic feelings — taking brotherly love to an icky new level. The response to the storyline twist is something executive producer Scott Buck finds ironic.
“It’s ironic that people are fine with Dexter jabbing people in the heart but mortified by this romance,” Buck tells TV Guide of the taboo relationship. “We’re not shying away from those feelings of hers, either.”
Production on the highly anticipated seventh season began last week.
The new season of “Dexter” premieres Sunday, September 30th at 9/8c on Showtime.
