We have a new “Fashion Star,” now that Kara Laricks was crowned the winner of NBC’s fashion design competition on Tuesday night’s first season finale.
Laricks wins the launch of her own fashion line, which is now available in the stores of the buyers featured on the show — H&M, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. It’s a pretty impressive finish for the former fourth-grade teacher, who was nearly eliminated in the first episode after she came in the Bottom 2.
Ronnie Escalante was the runner-up, whose four sales during the season earned him $420,000, while third place went to Nzimiro Oputa, who made five sales totaling $320,000.
The reality show, starring Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos as judges, and Elle MacPherson as host, has been renewed for a second season.
