Sure, even the great Oprah Winfrey makes mistakes.
A disappointing start to the Oprah Winfrey Network has led to some difficult decisions for the daytime icon, but the choiceshave been even more painful in the pocketbook, as the channel has reportedly lost $330 million since its inception in 2008.
Bloomberg Businessweek reports that continued losses, decisions and cancellations by the young channel have piled up to those levels, although Oprah herself has no personal financial stake in the network.
That said, all is not lost for the channel. Ratings are on the upswing, according to the Wall Street Journal, thanks to the likes of “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”
