TNT has renewed the critically acclaimed “Southland” for a fifth season, the network announced Friday.
The police drama from John Wells (“ER”) will return next February with 10 new episodes.
Starring Michael Cudlitz, Regina Hall, Shawn Hatosy and Ben McKenzie, “Southland” debuted in 2009 on NBC, who pulled the plug on it after the first season. TNT rescued the show, picking it up and carrying it ever since.
“We are very proud of Southland and grateful to everyone involved in the series, including executive producers John Wells, Chris Chulack and Jonathan Lisco; creator Ann Biderman; and our partners at Warner Bros. Television,” said TNT, TBS and TCM president and head of programming Michael Wright in a statement.
“We look forward to going deeper into the lives of Southland’s extraordinary characters and the streets they struggle to keep safe next year,” he added.
