She’s one of Hollywood’s most glamorous stars, but Scarlett Johansson’s TV tastes are decidedly down-to-earth.
What’s her current passion, TV-wise? Believe it or not, it’s none other than “Storage Wars,” the A&E reality series about the wacky world of abandoned storage-unit auctions. That seemingly mundane TV show has emerged as the most popular series on A&E — even spawning a Dallas-based spinoff.
As you’ll see if you watch the above clip, ScarJo revealed her fascination with “Storage Wars” Wednesday night on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on NBC. She struggled to explain why. “I don’t know,” said the loquacious star, “it’s just, like, people sorting through garbage!”
In her comments about TV, she implied a keen interest in TV’s more-unusual reality concepts. She even said she came across a show recently with a premise not unlike “Storage Wars” that dealt with auctions of baggage that went unclaimed for a certain period of time at an airport. Apparently, the idea that people would abandon their luggage after a trip just boggled her mind.
As it happened, we couldn’t find a series about unclaimed airline baggage when we went searching for it on the Internet, but Scarlett may have seen a one-time-only episode of an unclaimed-baggage show that may have been aired as a test to see if viewers would respond favorably to such a concept. Well, if the viewer is Scarlett Johansson, the answer’s yes!
Meanwhile, she came on “The Tonight Show” to promote her new action flick “The Avengers” and introduce a clip.
