Latin hunk William Levy told reporters how close he came to not being able to perform during “Dancing with the Stars” “Latin Week” after he suffered a ripped ankle ligament during rehearsal.

Monday night, William and partner Cheryl Burke triumphed in the Argentine tango with a score of 29, tied for the lead, after they feared he couldn’t do it.

“I was scared we wouldn’t be able to dance, but thank God we went through the routine,” the telenovela star said backstage.

Fans were horrified when William tweeted about an injury to his right ankle which occurred during Sunday night’s rehearsal with Cheryl. “I felt like it was probably going to be very bad [on Monday] and I’m like, I should let people know what’s going on before [the show]. I let them know–and today I had the MRI and it showed a ripped ligament and I’m supposed to rest but we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do here.”

William said the doctor told him he should be resting for two weeks. “He said that I [am] probably going to recover very fast and hopefully it happens. He said I really have to put a lot of tape to my ankle so it won’t move so much.” The female-fan magnet has been popping Advil as well. “I took three pills for the pain before I went out to dance.”

His partner Cheryl was beyond relieved: “It was a hard, hard, hard weekend,” she sighed.

William added, “The thing is that you’ve been here working so hard for the last five weeks. You don’t want an injury to take you out of the competition. That’s not going to take me out of this place right now!”

His determination paid off big time and Cheryl said, “[I’m] so proud. We just went out there and danced our little hearts out.”
