Katie Couric vs. Sarah Palin take deux? The former CBS news anchor reportedly wants the former governor of Alaska as her first guest on her eponymous talk show, “Katie,” which debuts this fall, says RadarOnline.
“Katie absolutely wants another crack at Palin,” reveals a show insider. “Katie would be honored to have Governor Palin as her first guest on her new show, but she truly doesn’t expect that she will accept the invitation because of the controversy surrounding the previous interview. Katie truly wasn’t trying to stump Governor Palin, and she would love to be able to talk to Sarah about what she was feeling in the aftermath. Katie didn’t think all of the criticism Palin received was fair and Katie now has a platform that can allow her to delve deeper into the issues, and this would be a great opportunity for these two to move forward.”
Katie interviewed the hockey mom VP candidate during the 2008 presidential campaign. During the nail-biting interview, Sarah couldn’t name a single newspaper she regularly read or a U.S. Supreme Court Case she disagreed with.
According to the HBO movie, “Game Change,” Sarah—played by Julianne Moore—was allegedly livid and had a Blackberry-throwing tantrum after the interview, claiming Katie set her up to look like a fool.
“Katie couldn’t believe that Palin thought that her credibility was ruined, Katie was just doing her job and asking the questions the public wanted answers to,” says the insider.
Even if “Sarah Barracuda” doesn’t end up in Katie’s hot seat come this fall, at least you have Tuesday morning to see these ladies battle out the morning talk show rounds at the same time. Watch Katie on “GMA” all this week, and Sarah co-host “Today” on Tuesday.
