And the “Voice” coaches think millions are tuning in for their catty banter….
One of TV’s current obsessions is actually Cee Lo Green’s stroke of evil genius — being seen this season on “The Voice” stroking a fluffy white cat a la Dr. Evil.
The cat named Purrfect occasionally pops up on the eccentric singer’s lap for no particular reason and has become a breakout star – who even has her own Twitter account, filing her own tweets from her iPawd.
But leave it to The New York Post to dig up some dirt on the fascinating feline — it turns out that’s not really Cee Lo’s cat. Scandalous!
Purrfect is, in fact, rented, costing the show $350 a day, plus $45 an hour for her two trainers. According to The Post, she comes from Benay’s Bird and Animal Rentals, a place that has supplied animals for TV and film since 1982. Purrfect is a rescue cat who lives with the shop’s owner when she isn’t making her cameos on prime-time TV.
For his part, Cee Lo owns up to the origin of the pretty kitty.
“It was Cee Lo’s idea to have a cat this season,” a source explains to E! News, “however, due to his travel schedule, he is not able to care for an animal full-time. Cee Lo liked the idea of working with a rescue as he loves animals.”
Regardless, we think the white Persian has been a Purrfect addition to the show, making Cee Lo Green one cool cat himself.
