Tom Selleck’s “Blue Bloods” is coming back to CBS, but will “Jesse Stone“?
According to Selleck, he’s not so sure.
The Emmy winner said in an interview with Zap2it that his upcoming eighth movie about the lawman character, called “Jesse Stone: Benefit of the Doubt,” “may be the last one” of the TV movies he does with CBS.
The telecast will air on Sunday, May 20, and Selleck, who also serves as an executive producer and co-writer of the mystery film, said that the franchise may have to look elsewhere for future editions.
“Bless them, they’ve done eight of these and they always perform far above what’s normally in the time slot, but they are constantly perplexed: ‘We’re not in the two-hour movie business.’ That being said, that’s not the end of Jesse, or at least I don’t think so,” he said in the interview. “There are a lot of other entities, whether cable or even feature films, but this is most likely the last one on CBS. I’m not done with the character, though.”
Hallmark Channel already runs repeats of earlier “Stone” mysteries, and the franchise has also has a healthy afterlife in DVD sales. Could they be a future destination? Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see.
